Blowfly Cricket Club
Building a stronger future through shared leadership.
Blowfly Cricket Club before CLUBMAP
Blowfly Cricket Club was facing some real challenges. Founder Mark Rushton was juggling most of the responsibilities on his own, making it tough to keep things running smoothly. Without clearly defined roles, delegating tasks was a struggle, and decision-making often felt unstructured. On top of that, there was no long-term plan in place, raising concerns about the club’s future. Realising things needed to change, the committee set out to build a stronger, more sustainable club.
Sharing the load
Responsibilities were largely concentrated on club Founder, Mark Rushton making it difficult to manage the club effectively. Decision-making lacked structure, and the absence of clearly defined roles made delegation a challenge. Recognising these issues, the committee committed to a strategic overhaul.
“When you restructure and the more you share that workload, the better and stronger your club will become.” shared Mark. “And as it gets better and stronger, you become more appealing to possible sponsors, you tick all the boxes in grant applications.”
With guidance from CLUBMAP, Blowfly Cricket Club implemented a clearer committee structure, ensuring that roles were well-definedand responsibilities were evenly distributed.
One of the most valuable aspects of CLUBMAP’s support for Blowfly has been the ongoing availability to provide advice and resources. Whenever the club had questions or concerns, expert guidance was just a phone call away.
Support and succession planning
Beyond immediate restructuring, CLUBMAP also introduced Blowfly Cricket Club to succession planning, an essential step in ensuring long-term stability.
“When my time comes, Blowfly cricket will continue for another 2 decades and I'm really confident that will happen now, which is very pleasing.”
With a structured plan in place, the club is now confident that it will continue thriving for years to come.
